Parkway Lunch Prices to Increase for 2006-2007 School Year

Parkway meal prices will increase in the 2006-2007 school year to offset rising costs. Adjustments are needed to assure adequate funds for the purchase of food, supplies, equipment and staffing. Prices were last increased in the fall of 2004. The Parkway Food Services Department is totally self-supporting and receives no district funds, so it must recoup the cost of inflation to keep up with rising costs. In addition, the districtwide nutrition initiative to offer more nutritious food choices has caused a loss of revenue because highly popular snack and drink items are no longer offered. More healthful foods now offered are considerably more expensive. The price changes from 2005-2006 to 2006-2007 are as follows: Breakfast Student - $1.25 to $1.50 Adult - $1.50 to $1.75 Lunch Student - $2.00 to $2.25 Adult - $2.25 to $2.50 Milk/Juice - $.45 to $.50
