Three Parkway Teachers Achieve National Board Certification
The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) recently released the scores for National Board Certification candidates. Parkway is pleased to announce the names of three teachers who now bear the advanced teaching credential of National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT). They are:
Amy Gregory (left), music teacher, Bellerive Elementary, is Parkway’s first music teacher to be national board certified. Music certification has been exceedingly difficult to achieve.
Debbie Banashek-Twist (left), communication arts teacher, North High, is Parkway’s first high school communication arts teacher to achieve National Board Certification.
Shannon Harmon (left), fifth-grade teacher, Barretts Elementary, recently came to Parkway from Charlotte, NC, as an experienced teacher.
“These teachers worked incredibly hard on their portfolios and poured their hearts into their work,” says Brandon Jamieson, NBCT, Parkway South High science teacher, who works to support candidates for National Board Certification.
National Board Certification is an advanced teaching credential which is achieved upon successful completion of a voluntary assessment program designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers who meet very high standards.
