Parkway Bus Drivers Take First Place in Safe Driving Competition

Parkway’s transportation department recently won first place in a safe driving competition sponsored by the Missouri Association for Pupil Transportation (MAPT). The Parkway team was one of about 70 from around the state who competed for the title. Click here for more information. The two-day competition included:

  • A written test, with 25 bus and safety-related questions
  • A timed event, where each contestant had 6 minutes to find 6 bus defects
  • A skills test, where each driver was tested on specific skills like backing up, parallel parking and turning

“I am really proud of our Parkway team,” says Will Rosa, Parkway transportation director, who notes that Parkway drivers routinely identify bus defects as part of their job.

"I hope we can follow up with another first-place title next year as well to equal our 1980s record.  Parkway took first place for two consecutive years in 1984 and 1985, and it would be great to repeat that in 2011 and 2012."
