Winter Weather Conditions Can Alter School Schedules

As we move into the winter season, Superintendent Robert Malito talks to parents about weather-related school closings. Dear Parents, We are moving into that time of year when weather and road conditions may require us to alter our typical school schedules. I want you to know the decision to close our schools or dismiss early is not taken lightly and is made with the safety of our students in mind. It is based on many factors such as road conditions, current and forecasted weather conditions, including temperature, wind, the amount and nature of precipitation (snow/ice) and visibility. I will make every attempt to reach a decision to cancel school by 5 a.m. Any weather-related school closings will be announced through local radio/television and posted on the Parkway web site at www.pkwy.k12.mo.us and on the Parkway snow line (314) 415-SNOW (7669). We encourage parents to develop contingency plans for their children in case school schedules change due to weather. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Sincerely, Robert T. Malito Superintendent
