Alumni Awards go to Teachers and Students

Albert Awards

The Parkway Alumni Association (PAA) recently presented three Parkway teachers with the Albert Award. Named in honor of Dr. Al Burr, a retired teacher, coach and distinguished principal, the award recognizes teachers who are inspiring others at the very earliest stages of their careers. All award recipients were presented with a check for $1,000 and were recognized at the district’s Appreciation Evening on April 27.

Receiving Albert Awards are: Stacy Wright, a fourth-grade teacher at Highcroft Ridge; Cecilia Ryon, a communication arts teacher at West Middle; and Charlie Cutelli, a science teacher at West High.

Granting Dreams

Family and friends packed the commons at Parkway Central Middle School on April 20, to celebrate with over 250 Granting Dreams recipients. The program set several records with over 1,000 applicants and 282 grants awarded.  In 2009, the PAA distributed almost $20,000 to grant winners.
