Parkway Raises More than $50,000 for Victims of Hurricane Katrina

The hurricane relief effort continues across the district. Each Parkway school is collecting donations for the American Red Cross or Salvation Army, with some students and staff also collecting personal items for displaced families enrolled in their schools. To date, more than $50,000 has been raised among just 20 schools. Other schools are extending their fundraising efforts through October. Many of the schools came up with creative ways to raise the money for hurricane victims – from selling blankets and lemonade to holding special hat and pajama days. Many schools also collected supplies to send to hurricane victims.
