Flu Season is Here
Most of our schools are experiencing quite a number of student and teacher absences due to influenza like illness. This is reminder about what to do when your child has influenza-like illnesses.
Sudden onset of fever, headache, muscle aches, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat and cough. Gastro-intestinal problems, such as nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, may accompany the respiratory symptoms.
If your child develops these symptoms, please keep him/her home and notify your school nurse. Do not give your child aspirin or products containing aspirin without consulting your child's physician. Call or see your child's physician for unusually high temperature, or if symptoms persist beyond five days.
Short, usually 1 - 3 days
Children should be fever-free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
