The month of December offers a variety of performances and shows for parents and the community! From band, orchestra and choral concerts, to plays and art shows, you can find a schedule and details on Parkway’s Web site for more than 60 events featuring students K-12.*****

Parkway Recruitment Fair Coming Jan. 12

The Parkway Recruitment Fair for 2008-09 is a great opportunity for candidates to interview for administrative and teaching positions, including technology integration specialists, librarians and counselors. *****The fair will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Central High School, 369 N. Woods Mill Road in Chesterfield.

All interested candidates must schedule an interview in advance.  Reservations can be made online at

Parkway Students to Perform with National High School Orchestra

Three Parkway students have been selected to perform with the National High School Honors Orchestra in February. Raymond Chen and Max Geissler, from Parkway Central High, and Monica Godbee from Parkway North High, will join 120 musicians from around the country. *****The orchestra will be conducted by Jung-Ho Pak of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. Chen plays the violin. Godbee and Geissler play the cello.

High school juniors and seniors are eligible to audition for the orchestra. Students must apply first, submitting an audition tape or CD of required literature and three minutes from literature of their own choosing. From a field of 30 students per state, separate audition committees for strings, winds, and percussion select the final 120 orchestra students. In 2005, only three students from Missouri were chosen to participate in this event.

The National High School Honors Orchestra is sponsored by the American Strings Teachers Association (ASTA). The students will rehearse and perform Feb. 28 - March 1, 2008, during the national ASTA conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Three Positions Open on Parkway Board of Education

Three director positions are open on the Parkway Board of Education, each for a three-year term, in the April 2008 election. Filing for the Parkway Board of Education will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, and continue until Tuesday, Jan. 22.*****
The three-year terms of current members Kelley Garbero, Dee Mogerman and Monty Montgomery will expire in April 2008.
On Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Jan. 21, no filing will take place due to holidays.  Filing hours are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On the last day of filing, Jan. 22, hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Filing must be done in person at Parkway's Administrative Center, at 455 N. Woods Mill Rd, Chesterfield, Mo. 63017. To be eligible for the Parkway Board of Education, applicants must:
- be a citizen of the United States;
- be at least 24 years old;
- be a resident taxpayer of the Parkway School District; and
- have, or will have, resided in Missouri for one year prior to the election date of April 8, 2008.
At the time of filing, applicants should provide a biographical statement of no more than 200 words and a recent photograph, which will be released to the media and included in Parkway publications.
