School Starts August 13!

How can you get your family ready for the new school year in less than two weeks? Our back- to-school guide covers the basics and will help you and your kids ease back into the first day on August 13. *****

Bus Routes

Need to find your child’s bus stop and pick-up time? Look the information up quickly on Parkway’s web site through e-Link, an online information system. Just enter your street address, and you’ll be able to find the bus routes and approximate pick-up and drop-off times for your child. To access e-Link, go to and then log in with the user name and password of Guest.

Emergency Alerts

Want to receive important information about school closings, emergencies and school events? If the district has your correct phone number and email address, you can receive voice or email messages about emergencies, thanks to AlertNow, an automated notification system. Please include your current numbers and email addresses on your student’s pupil information form, and notify your school if changes occur.  Watch for more details the first week of school.

Another Parkway Student Earns Perfect ACT score

Once again, a Parkway student receives a perfect score on the ACT college entrance exam. Hannah Lee of Parkway Central took the exam in April, receiving a composite score of 36. *****She was one of just two Missouri students, and one of 85 in the nation, to achieve the perfect score. With her score, Hannah becomes the fifth Parkway student in two years to have achieved ACT perfection. Hannah attributes her success this year to a love of reading and mathematics—and persistence. She had taken the ACT twice before and fallen one point short of perfection on those attempts. “I was able to read the questions faster and manage my time better,” said Hannah, who plans to attend Washington University or Stanford and study immunology. Adam Bergeron, Hannah’s AP Biology teacher, was not surprised by her accomplishment. He describes Hannah as a “tenacious worker who will not quit until she understands a biological concept from multiple perspectives.”   About 25,000 Missouri students and 446,000 students from across the nation took the test in April.

Parkway Welcomes Parent & Citizen Involvement

When schools work together with families to support learning, children are inclined to succeed not just in school, but also throughout life. In keeping with these beliefs, Parkway offers numerous opportunities to parents and citizens for volunteering at schools and at the district level.*****

Area advisories are one way to participate without any long-term obligations. They have a new format this year and are open to any citizen interested in hearing about and discussing new district plans and programs. Meetings start September 27. Read about these and more at

Save on Back-to-School Supplies Aug. 3-5

Once again, Missouri will celebrate a sales tax holiday for certain back-to-school purchases (clothing, supplies, computers, etc.). The sales tax holiday will be available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 3 - 5, 2007. Cities have the option of participating or not.*****

The Parkway communities of Chesterfield, Creve Coeur and Maryland Heights will participate in the sales tax holiday, so eligible items purchased at businesses in those cities will be exempt from all sales taxes.

The cities of Manchester, Ballwin, Des Peres, Kirkwood and Town & Country have opted out, so items purchased at businesses in those communities will not be completely tax exempt. Shoppers in those areas will get the county and state tax exemptions on back-to-school purchases, but will have to pay the city sales tax.

For more information about items that qualify for the sales tax holiday and a complete list of counties and cities participating, click on the following link:
