Parkway Earns Perfect Score on State's Annual Performance Report

Parkway School District has met all 14 performance standards in its 2006 Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Annual Performance Report (APR). Parkway earned a perfect score - 100 out of a possible 100 points - to qualify for the state's "Annual Distinction in Performance Award." The performance measures, recently reviewed by the state, include MAP test scores, graduation rate, attendance rate, college placement and student participation in advanced and vocational courses. To qualify for the state's "Annual Distinction in Performance Award," K-12 districts must meet at least 13 of the 14 performance standards in the report. Some people may be confused as to the difference between APR and AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) that was announced this past September. AYP is a measurement of the federal No Child Left Behind program. In Missouri, AYP is solely based on scores from a state test called the "MAP." The APR is based on multiple measures of student achievement--the MAP, the ACT college entrance exam, the percentage of graduates going on to college, and the percentage of vocational education students who get appropriate placements after high school, etc. The APR is more comprehensive than the AYP and gives a more complete and reliable picture of how a school is doing.

Parkway Winter School Closing Information

As we head into the winter season, we remind you of several sources that will provide the latest Parkway school closing or cancellation information. Additionally, this year the district will send e-mails and automated telephone calls informing parents of school closings. Calls and e-mails will be made using information provided on pupil information forms and will only be launched if a decision is made to close school or let students out early. Please remember that if your phone number or e-mail has changed, you have moved, or if your information has been incorrectly recorded in our database, you may not receive an automated call or e-mail. For that reason, parents should always double-check the following traditional sources for school closing information: Parkway's Web Site Parkway's Snow Line (314) 415-SNOW Television KTVI Channel 2 KMOV Channel 4 KSDK Channel 5 Radio KMOX 1120 AM Gospel 1600 AM The Beat 100.3 FM MAJIC 104.9 FM
