Central Middle School is Parkway's original secondary school. The original structure was built in the late 1950s, and was extensively remodeled in the mid-70s, the 90s and in the summer of 2000. As a result, Central Middle has the appearance and resources of a new school. Our student body, comprised of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders, is served by a staff of about 70 full-time professionals and support staff.
Central Middle has a rich history of serving the diverse needs of its students. We offer an outstanding academic program that boasts a record of student achievement that is well known within the District and throughout the area. The English as a Second Language program for all middle school students is located at Central Middle. Many of our teachers have national reputations for excellence and are often asked to share their expertise with colleagues locally and across the country. The majority of Central Middle students participate in after-school programs. Academic support, activity clubs and intramural sports are offered three days a week after school.
The Central Middle community believes that the education of children is the shared responsibility of teachers, students and the home. With that in mind, the Central Middle staff continually works to communicate effectively with its patrons.
