Hello, I'm glad to be back in school again. Hopefully everyone had a safe and fun summer break. It's time to get back in the flow of things and since we have a new group of 6th graders (and parents) I would like to talk about the drop off and pick up procedures.
These procedures along with a map on the best and safest way to drop off your children were printed in the August newsletter. For the most part it has been followed. Unfortunately we have been having an increasing amount of students being dropped off in unsafe locations.
As you know we ask that you pull into the first drive on the right by the administration office and drive around the horseshoe. Please drop your child off by the east wing of school. This allows your child to get out at the curb and walk into school without having to walk through other traffic. This also helps speed up the flow of traffic so you can get in and out quicker.
In the morning I've noticed students were being dropped off at the stop sign and on the far side of the circle. When these students have to cross traffic this causes delays for the buses, which backs traffic up onto Woods Mill Rd. This is also very dangerous because the bus drivers can't see students walking in between buses. The bus drivers have a systematic drop off procedure and this causes interruptions. This is a big safety concern when students are walking between these moving buses.
The afternoon pick up seems to be running relatively smooth. Just remember to pull into the first entrance on the right and loop around to the second drive. Please pull as far to the right and as close and as safely to the car in front of you. Don't pull into the turn, because we sometimes have late buses. We also need to leave this open for afternoon employees pulling in and administrative employees leaving.
I know a lot of you are in a hurry and want to get in and out, but if these simple procedures can be followed you should be able to move through quicker. Please adhere to these procedures so we can keep our students safe and keep traffic flowing properly. We have attached another copy of the drop off/ pick up procedure just in case you didn't receive or misplaced the first newsletter. Thank you for your cooperation.
