February 2010
Letter From the Principal
Dear Parent,
We are at that time of the school year when things just don’t seem to be settled. Weather outside vacillates from frigid to warm. A new semester has begun, yet we are enrolling for classes for the 2010—2011 school year. We’ve had some days off during January, but there’s not much else scheduled until Spring Break. In short, we’re in the “dog days” of winter, when our students must renew their resolve to study, do homework, finish projects, and generally go about the business of “school.” Statistically, we are told that this time of year is when student grades are the most fragile, and that the next few weeks are the most difficult of the year from a teaching/learning standpoint. Please encourage your student to bear down in all classes. Use your access to his/her progress by checking the Infinite Campus portal regularly. It will be worth the investment of your time.
Health Update
Vision and Auditory Screening
Vision and Auditory screening was conducted on November 18th and 19th for all 9th and 11th grade students, new students, ESL students and those receiving Special School District services. If a referral is made for your student, please return the referral response from your health care provider to the nurse. If you have any questions, please call the school nurse, Mrs. Hunt, at (314) 415-7930.
