Jennifer Dieken-Buchek, Administrative Intern

 All about me . . . .

I began the first fifteen years of my career teaching in both Illinois and Missouri. My first job was teaching middle school students in Chicago, IL.  After 2 years of working with 6-8th grade students, I taught 4th grade.  In 2000, I moved to St. Louis, and I worked at Tillman Elementary School in the Kirkwood School District where I worked for eleven years.  In Kirkwood, I taught everything from 2nd - 5th grade, and I also served as the administrative intern for the Extended Schol Year program for two summers.

My undergraduate degree is in both Elementary Education and Spanish from Southeast Missouri State University.   I received my Master's degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago with a degree in Education Administration.  Currently, I am writing my dissertation at University of Missouri, St. Louis to complete my PhD program.  My area of research is the academic achievement and character education.

Personally, I am the mother to a four year old  and seven year old.  My husband has lived in the St. Louis area all his life, and he attended school in the Hazelwood School District.  We also have two dogs, Hali and Kona.

I am looking forward to working with all of you this year.  Please stop by and say hello when you are at Barretts.
