Contact Parkway

From the Nurse's Corner

Welcome back!!  I hope you had a fun, relaxing and safe summer and will soon be ready to join us for the new school year.

Just as a reminder:
Barretts’ health program is both preventative (vision screenings, hearing screenings, education, etc.) as well as for emergency care. If a student is injured or becomes ill at school, and it is determined that the child needs to go home, parents will be notified. Please remember to keep all contact information current.

Also, it is not uncommon that a child may need medicine while at school. In order to assure the safety of all students, Parkway has developed strict guidelines for the administration of medication. As stated in Barretts Handbook:

Over-the-Counter Medication - Over-the-counter medication may be administered to a Parkway student when accompanied by a written request signed by the student’s parent/guardian and a written order from the physician. Both the written request and order must state the name of the student, name of the medication, dosage, schedule of administration and indications for giving. The medication must be in the original container or labeled by the physician or pharmacist.

Prescription Medication – Prescription medications (in the original container)must be brought to the nurse, accompanied by a label affixed by a pharmacy or physician showing name, prescription contents, dosage, schedule of administration, date purchased and physician’s name. Also, a written request from the parent must be completed.

For your convenience, authorization forms for "Parent Request" and ” Physician Request" are included here or may be obtained from the Nurse’s Office.

For any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at (314) 415-6010.

I’m looking forward to seeing you soon,
Mrs. Gorse
